Partners in Power - How Propane Industry Investments Led to Tractors Powered by Propane and Natural Gas

In 2012, the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC), on behalf of the United States propane industry, began investing in the development of new equipment and appliances powered by propane. Since 2012, PERC has invested over $43 million in product development that, in turn, has attracted over $136 million in co-funding from manufacturing partners. Those investments have supported the development and commercialization of more than 55 different propane-fueled products, from school buses, lawn mowers and work trucks to grain dryers, generators, and irrigation engines. Through the end of 2016, more than 216,000 units of these different products have been sold into the market and are creating value for the United States propane industry with a return on investment over 30X over the life of the products.
