The performance of PV modules in outdoor weather conditions is modelled for many different reasons 1) Production process optimisation to minimise losses at Standard Test Conditions (STC). 2) Determination of coefficients such as "P_(MAX) vs. T_(MOD)" and "Efficiency vs. Irradiance" 3) Validation of instantaneous measured performance (to show module is working) 4) Fault finding (if under performance) 5) Benchmarking between different technologies (with differing coefficients) 6) Degradation rate determinations 7) Overall system energy yield predictions vs. simulated weather inputs 8) System output validation.
