Distinctive features of the stress-strain state of a welded joint depending on the ambient air temperature are investigated by comparative analysis of temperature fields, stress fields and displacements during the heating and cooling processes of welding. The results reveal that the pressure between the pipe and the coupling during the formation of a welded joint is lower when welding is performed at low temperatures than when it is performed at an acceptable temperature. The calculations explain the low strength of the coupling welds produced at low temperatures.
