摘要

This study investigated the influence of manpower development programmes on workers' jobperformance in banking industry in Cross River State, Nigeria. This was to ascertain the relevance ofmanpower development programmes as an alternative approach to human capital formation to jobperformance among banking workers. One research question was raised to assist the research. Thestudy adopted the descriptive survey research design of ex-post facto type. The stratified randomsampling technique was used to select one hundred and fifty (150) respondents. A structuredquestionnaire with two sub-sections titled “Manpower Development and Performance Scale (MDPS)”was used to collect data that were analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 alpha levels.The results showed that, manpower development programmes have significantly influenced jobperformance of workers in banking industry. It was recommended that manpower developmentprogrammes organization should be given priority by all work organizations in order to forestall jobperformance among all levels of workers.
