Technical Education colleges in Libya provide education and training based on state of the art technologies. The objective is to prepare present and future decision makers who play a key role in building more sustainable societies and creating new paradigms that have the mission to promote development through both research and teaching, disseminating new knowledge and insight to their students and building their capabilities. This paper highlights present and future challenges of New Libya to meet the objectives of Rio+20, Higher Education Institutions that have a special responsibility to provide leadership on education for sustainable development. It will present a model of new Education for sustainable development under development that aims at enabling everyone to acquire the values, competencies, skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to building a more sustainable society. This includes revising teaching content to respond to global and local challenges. It also promotes teaching methods that enable students to acquire skills such as interdisciplinary thinking, integrated planning, understanding complexity, cooperating with others in decision-making processes, and participating in local, national and global processes towards sustainable development.The paper demonstrates that how 18 technical colleges in Libya are responding to implement sustainable practices for Educational Institutions to rebuild new Libya. It shows methods and mechanisms being adopted for making every effort to ensure sustainable development for the benefit of present and future generations. Finally the new strategies and plan of action to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development based on an assessment of the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development are given to address new and emerging challenges
