Researchers have analyzed the environmental impact of automotive components using life cycle analysis (LCAs), but the end-of-life options for modern automotive components have not been fully addressed and explored. In order to reduce negative environmental impacts from the disposal of automotive components and maximize economic benefits for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) sustainable remanufacturing as an end-of-life option for automotive components is explored at the disposal stage. The task is to obtain the most environmentally efficient process for the end-of-life of the components by integrating the proper end-of-life strategies into the automotive components design. The idea of this work is to ensure that the trade-off decisions are made in the right framework so that automotive component developers analyze the benefits of employing a remanufactured component over a new automotive component.
