摘要

The present paper deals with the analysis of process parameters in turning operation of 0.18%-C steel which has been undergone through conventional turning operation in a lathe. By varying the cutting parameters, i.e., speed, feed and depth of cut, variation in the life of the tool and the surface finish of the work piece have been examined. After each machining operation, the temperature at the tool tip has been recorded by using pyrometer. On the basis of higher tool life and lesser temperature generation in the tool tip, the best set of parameters are recommended for the given experimental conditions.
