A core nucleic acid extraction chemistry using magnetic particles: 1. High recovery of DNA and RNA from diverse sample matrices: (1) Accurate quantification of very low level of residual host cellular (0.1 pg) of varying sizes; (2) Detection of low TCID of virus and <10 cfu/ml mycoplasma; (3) RNA Shelter minimizes degradation of RNA targets. 2. Rapid extraction. 3. Automation in two simple platforms. 4. Simultaneous extraction of viral DNA and RNA and mycoplasma for detection from the same PCR run. 5. Allow sample to answer in 5 hours as compared to >21 days of culture. Compatible with multiple detection and identification assays. Superior performance than existing lengthy and expensive culture methods.
