Online Modification of Cotton Rovings by Using Three Anti-finishing Agents

Various physical and chemical methods are used to fabricate clothing, which has absorption and quick drying properties. However, such methods of fabrication are relatively long. To shorten the production cycle of hygroscopic and fast-drying fabrics, this paper introduces the method of modifying the cotton yarn in the spinning process to shorten the production process. In this experiment, the self-made liquid feeding device was fixed above the front roller of the spinning machine. By rotating the front roller, the modifier in the feeding device is transferred to the cotton roving. The modifier is a mixture of distilled water and three anti-finishing agents in different proportions. After spinning the yarn, the evenness, hairiness and strength of the yarns were tested. In addition, after scouring and dyeing the yarn, the K/S value and contact angle of the yarns were tested. The results show that the surface hairiness and evenness index of the modified yarn are greatly reduced, while the strength and contact angle of the yarn are improved. The optimum ratio of distilled water and the three anti-finishing agents in the modifier is 3:7; meanwhile, the modified yarn has the largest contact angle of 142° and the maximum growth rate of yarn strength is 9.5%. Thus, this experiment is proven to be of profound significance.
