COMBUSTION INVESTIGATIONS WITH COLOMBIAN COAL: SUMMARY OF EXPERIMENTS AND NUMERICAL INTERPRETATION

Coherent data is a key requirement for the development and validation of combustion models. When pulverized fuel combustion is addressed, it is important to provide detailed information on pyrolysis and char combustion with high accuracy. A status report on a data basis for such modelling and simulation purposes is given here. The coal of choice is a typical coal for power plant applications with worldwide relevance. Experiments on the laboratory scale are described which cover the combustion phases and provide insight into product formation and conversion processes in both air- and oxy-fuel atmospheres.
