Lutetuim calcium silico borates (LuCaSiB) glasses doped with Nd~(3+) ions with molar composition of Lu_2O_3-CaO-SiO_2-B_2O_3-Nd_2O_3 have been prepared by conventional melt quenching technique. Their properties have been evaluated throughout the density, refractive index, absorption and emission measurements. The density, molar volume and refractive index increase with increasing Nd_2O_3 concentration. The optical absorption spectra show twelve bands in visible and near infrared regions. The luminescence spectra exhibit three emission bands were observed at 900, 1072 and 1341 nm corresponding to ~4F_(3/2)→~4I_(9/2), ~4I_(11/2) and ~4I_(13/2) transition respectively.
