摘要

Development of automated system for vehicle speed measurement is main feature to solve the problem regarding to the traffic surveillance system. It is profitable for secure transportation, avoiding the road accidents etc. There are plentiful technologies or methods developed for speed measurement but to moderate drawbacks of earliest methods, in this paper, we are following key steps such as background modeling, foreground detection and vehicle tracking. This paper presents a technique for vehicle speed measurement and vehicle tracking. The vehicle speed is estimated using system based on background modelling whereas Vehicle tracking have been achieved with the help of blob detection through all frames. This system is flexible and extended for other applications. The speed has been calculated by mathematical formulation based on the number of frames, frame rate & distance traversed by vehicle. This experiment was performed on different type of vehicles and different range of speed.
