Development and Application of UV LED Curing Lamp For Optical Fiber Coating

UV LED curing applied on optical fiber coating has been a hot topic for many years, but very few successful cases were observed so far. Successful application need bilateral cooperation of developers both coatings and lamps. In this paper, we provide a view angle from lamp designer how to develop a workable and high efficiency UV LED curing lamp matching now-days high speed optical fiber manufacturing. Three models of lamps are researched and compared by radiation intensity measurement and actual performance on an optical fiber draw tower, and we now can make a conclusion that UV LED curing lamps are ready as the next generation curing method for optical fiber coatings.
