摘要

This project investigated the relationship between illuminance resolution of lighting control systems (LCSs) and human perception and cognition, with "resolution" referring to the smallest change that can be produced by a lighting control system. Both objective performance and subjective ratings were collected during a psychophysical experiment. Twelve observers participated in the experiment. The LCSs with resolutions between 14.8% to 17.7% were found to be more efficient for users than the others. Although resolution failed to significantly impact the effectiveness of the LCSs, participants believed their matches were more accurate with a low resolution LCS. Results from questionnaires suggest that users give equal priority between accuracy and efficacy of LCSs. However, the objective task performance indicates that their overall satisfaction highly depends on the efficacy. It was also found that the users' visual perception of illuminance differences differs from their cognitive acceptance of illuminance differences.
