摘要

Two small scale field studies are presented which investigate the use of prospective memory - remembering to carry out an intended action - this is applied to the occasions when a person forgets to turn the lights off as they leave their office. The first study demonstrates the effect of the corridor illuminance on regulating the office light switching behaviours and habits in individual offices in a 1970s UK University building. The second study tried to replicate the initial findings in a different corridor where daylight and automatic controls were present, again with manual controls in individual offices. The contexts, methods and analysis procedures have evolved from the first study to include lux levels for both the corridor and office switching behaviours. Prompting or nudging occupants to avoid lighting energy waste could be an area for future design decisions for choice architecture on campus.
