The stochastic characteristics of wind loads are largely influenced by the terrains. Wind-field around a river estuary is complex and changeable, thus the experimental formulae can hardly describe the wind characteristics accurately. This paper studies the wind-field of a long-span cable-stayed bridge near the estuary of the Yangtze River near the East China Sea. A time lasting field measurement was carried out to record the wind velocity histories. The wind characteristics are analyzed. The measured power spectrum density curves of the wind velocity are drawn and the parameters of them are proposed for further analysis of wind loads acting on bridge structures.
