In Toyota city, measures for low carbon transportation are being implemented in an integrated way. This paper's aim is to analyze effective driving methods and beneficial changes for eco-driving using the eco-driving pilot program data with ITS. Towards the end of the program, 270 citizens participated in this project. Information about the eco-driving diagnosis was offered on the Web to the participants and information about instantaneous fuel consumption was additionally provided by an on-board LED indicator. The terms "Fuel Economy Achievement" and "Fuel Economy Improvement" were defined and used to analyze effective driving methods and effective driving changes, respectively. The results empirically indicated that the most effective eco-driving method on highways was to keep speeds between 70 and 80 km/h. Furthermore, a high fuel economy improvement exceeding 30 % was mainly caused by decreasing idling consumption. At present, more detailed analysis is required for clarifying other effective driving changes.
