摘要

The Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment/Dedicated Short-Range Communication (WAVE/DSRC) system is the state-of-the-art technology for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-roadside communications, enabling new vehicular applications for safety, efficiency, and comfort. In this work, we developed a Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) system which uses the WAVE/DSRC communication technology to connect the heavy vehicle and the weighing system on roads. This system can measure the gross weight of a moving heavy vehicle and transmit the weighing results to the measured vehicle in real time by using WAVE/DSRC radios. In this paper, we introduce the architecture, the protocol design, and the message set implementation of the developed WAVE/DSRC WIM system.
