(Session 15)Reduction of NOx Emission and Gas Consumption at Walking Beam Furnace by adjustments to the existing Side Burners

ArcelorMittal Eisenhuttenstadt is an integrated steel plant, with a capacity of approximately 1.5 Mt/a flat steel, a turnover of ? 1bn and 2481 employees. The plant is located in Eastern Germany, close to Polish border. Main customers are located in East Germany as well as Eastern Europe. More than half of Steel Production is dedicated to the automotive market.Hot Strip Mill (HSM) was commissioned in 1997, which closed the last gap in the process chain between hot metal plant and galvanizing lines. HSM is a compact type mill, with an overall length of only 311 m. The designed capacity was 1.5 Mt/a, which is now increased up to 1.9 Mt/a. The mill consists of: one walking beam furnace, one reversing rougher, one coil box, one five-stand finishing train, one laminar cooling section and one down coiler.
