摘要

The paper presents the researches about macro solidification simulation in the specific conditions of continuous casting. Researches are focused on aluminum alloys slabs cast by direct casting and continuous electromagnetic casting. A finite difference mathematical model is used to create a software to simulate aluminum alloys macro solidification process. Overall objective of the software is to predict the temperature distribution in the ingot section, in function of alloy properties and caster working parameters. With this program it can be established the optimum working parameters for caster in order to obtain good ingots without expensive training in industrial conditions.
