COMPLEX METHOD FOR DEVELOPING THE DIGITAL GEOMORPHOLOGIC MAP OF ROMANIA AT 1:200.000 SCALE

The development of GIS, the satellite imagery and the analysis of the digital terrain model (DTM) made possible the up-dating and the improvement of the geomorphologic maps content. This paper aims to reveal the practical importance and the necessity of the digital geomorphologic maps in the field of environment, biodiversity protection and preservation and to present steps in creating the digital geomorphologic map. The general geomorphologic map of Romania at scale 1:200.000 is used as support for creating the digital map and the digital library of map symbols. Also, based on different DTMs, a series of algorithms interactively validate the map symbols position, dimension and shape.
