The hierarchical linear analysis of gender difference in academic achievement and physical fitness

摘要

The longitudinal data gathered from 105 elementary students for three years, were taken the statistical software of HLM 7.0, to analyze the correlations among gender, BMI and academic achievements. The study reaches the conclusions as follows: (1) The average academic achievements between students have significance difference, and the R square of intra-individual is 0.2005. (2) The growth factor cannot significantly affect students' academic achievements. (3) Gender cannot significantly affect students' academic achievements and BMI. (4) Obesity might be not good for students' academic achievements. According to above conclusions, we suggest: (1) Teachers should watch out the mediating factors of confidence from obesity, it might leads to low academic achievements, (2) the more sooner growing, the better academic achievements students could reach, might be a myth, (3) we should build up the common database between students' academic achievements from school and physical fitness, for longitudinal data collected to be researched.
