ECO-Innovation Project 'RUN' (ReUse Notebook - Collection, Refurbishment and Distribution System) - Objectives and impacts

Today's common treatment of used notebooks is their materials' recycling. More advisable in terms of environmental friendliness is their reuse. The main goal of the RUN-Project ("ReUse Notebook - Collection, Refurbishment and Distribution System") is the implementation of an integrated large-scale system for collecting, purchasing, inventorying, refurbishing and remarketing used notebooks and similar devices from private households and small and medium enterprises (SME). To achieve this main objective it is necessary to set up a cost efficient logistics system which is able to handle small batch sizes down to one single piece. This paper explains the RUN-System, its objectives and its visions.
