To avoid congestion caused by some nodes overloaded in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs), this paper proposes a new protocol called QoS-based Multipath Dynamic Source Routing protocol (QMDSR) based on Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR). It considers bandwidth constraints to improve the routing selecting strategy of DSR. At the same time, the route that is maximally disjoint from the main route is kept as a backup route for the source node. When the main route fails, the source node can simply use the backup route to send data which increases the packet delivery ratio and decreases the routing overhead of route discovery. The simulation results show that QMDSR increases the packet delivery ratio and decreases the transporting delay in WMNs that achieves better quality of service.
