THIOPAQ O&G, a bio-desulphurization technology co-developed between Shell Global Solutions and Paques B.V, can be applied at high and low pressure in natural gas and petrochemical environments at an economic scale for projects up to 50-tonnes-per-day sulphur. For higher sulphur loads, the economics may still be favourable and will depend on feed gas composition and conditions. The conventional Claus/SCOT technology is the most commonly applied technology for sulphur removal however; the alternative THIOPAQ O&G delivers distinct advantages in relation to safety, economics, reliability and operations. This paper will discuss THIOPAQ O&G Technology highlighting specific scenarios where the technology is a good fit for processing lean and rich gases with sulphur loads between 15 and 70 TPD. A comparative value proposition will be discussed.
