Regional Study of Oligocene Future Hydrocarbon Potential In Nile Delta, Egypt

The Oligocene objectives have been become a major exploration targets in Nile Delta because Pliocene plays can now be considered as mature in the proximal part of the Delta, The significant results from the few drilled deep Oligocene wells (Satis, Hodoa, PFMD,..), and improvements in seismic methods like broad band, multi Azimuth, in addition to applied the advanced drilling technologies and looking for huge discoveries and great reserves will encourage the operating companies to drill the Oligocene deep targets HPHT. About 67 wells penetrated the Oligocene section in Nile Delta, only 13 wells have been targeted Oligocene plays and resulted 5 oil and gas discoveries where 8 wells were dry, most of them for traps integrity top and/or lateral seal against fault. These results make the success ratio for Oligocene plays to be more than 38%
