摘要

In this paper, the author developed a novel type of optical and electrical hybrid cable. It contained a drop cable as sub-unit and power cable twisted together. The hybrid cable has dry core and light weight. After testing, it showed that the cable had excellent transmission, environmental and mechanical characteristics. More over the cable has good tensile strength and flexibility. Installation of the newly design cable was fast, easy and economical. The cable is mainly used in the base station transmission signal system from the baseband unit (BBU) to the wireless remote radio unit (RRU). Besides, it can support weak power supply. In engineering application, the base station used a combination of electrical cable and optical cable, it could greatly reduce the cost of construction and decrease the construction period. We believe that the optical and electrical hybrid cable would be widely used in the china's next 4G network base station construction.
