Avian Orthopedic Surgery: A Surgeon Specialized in Avian Trauma's Point Of View!

Avian trauma is one of the most common reasons a bird is brought to a veterinary hospital; however, there are very few publications on orthopedics in birds. Understanding the forces that act on avian bones, as well as avian physiology and biology, and knowledge of available treatments are fundamental for good surgical outcomes. Intramedullary pins, external fixators, bone plates, and CRIF have been used successfully in avian patients. All will be discussed in this topic.
