Formation of a first transverse crack in cross-ply CFRP laminates was predicted under fatigue loading, and the effect of the fiber volume fraction on the first transverse crack formation was evaluated. Three kinds of CFRP laminates were formed from T800S/2592 prepregs with two different fiber volume fractions of V_f= 61% and 68%. The stacking sequence of the laminates with V_f=61% is [0/90_7]_s and that of the laminates with V_f=68% is [0/90_6]_s and [0_2/90_(12)]_s. The fatigue life to the first transverse crack formation was evaluated with a formula without depending on the stacking sequence of the laminates. As the result, it was found that the fatigue life to the first transverse crack formation of the laminates of V_f=68% is longer than that of the laminates of V_f=61% in high-cycle region.
