For more than 40 years, dental technology uses electrical discharge machining (EDM) for high-precision production of biocompatible dental prostheses, e.g. meso- and suprastructures as well as telescopic prosthetics made of hard NPM alloys CoCrMo and titanium grade 5. The results of this research presented in this paper show the development of an innovative gap control method for a new RC-type generator. In combination with this method, which allows a high process stability due to the capacitor charge level and the resulting equal discharge energy, technologies have been developed that have led to new insights in the field of EDM.
