DESIGN APPROACHES TO ENHANCE LNG PRODUCTION

This paper discusses the methods of incrementally enhancing LNG production from a given set of turbine drivers by either increasing the power available from the turbines (power augmentation) and/or by improving the overall process efficiency by means such as flashing liquid expanders, gas turbine inlet air chilling, evaporative cooling, inlet fogging, and utilizing design compromises on equipment. The paper will indicate how the capacity of the LNG facility can be viewed as a continuum, with different techniques available to enhance output. Options available for both greenfield plants and in debottlenecking solutions is covered. The advantages and disadvantages of different options will be discussed.
