GAINS FROM REDUCING STEAM CONSUMPTION IN A SUGAR PLANT OF 2500 TCD

It is a well known fact that in the present day scenario, the financial condition of sugar mills in general is very bad. The basic reason of bad health is the fact that due to high cane price and low market price of sugar, the cost of production is higher than the selling price of sugar. As such, it has become essential for the sugar mills to reduce their cost of production by way of earning revenue through the by-products produced in the sugar mill. Bagasse is one of the major by-products, by saving which sugar mills may earn substantial amount either by selling it directly or by producing extra power through co-generation using bagasse as fuel.
