(5)ROADBLOCKS TO CONDEMNATION FOR PIPELINES

This chapter will focus on the recent expansion of pipeline infrastructure and pipeline projects for the transportation and delivery of oil and natural gas, and the multitude of legal and practical challenges facing pipeline projects today. This expansion is occurring throughout the United States, including in New Mexico, North and South Dakota, Texas, and across the eastern United States. Natural gas produced in the Appalachian region will be delivered via new or upgraded pipeline infrastructure being constructed in Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Several high profile, and often contested, pipeline projects have been underway in the western states.
