Milk quality is an important aspect of dairy production that affects milk processing, its technological properties, and consequently the economic efficiency of dairy herds (Goncalves, 2017). Therefore, economic losses caused by bovine mastitis are recognized worldwide as a major factor affecting profitability of dairy farms (Hogeveen et al., 2011). On the other hand, economic performance changes over time, especially because of changes in milk quality regulations and market circumstances, methodologies used, and specific characteristics of dairy herds evaluated. The aim of the present study was to describe the association of the production costs and economic efficiency indicators (EEI) of dairy herds located in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, accordingto levels of bulk tank somatic cell count (BTSCC).
