Mycoplasma hyorhinis (MHR) and Mycoplasma hyosynoviae (MHS) are both etiological agents of porcine polyarthritis, although each tends to affect animals at different phases in production, MHR in younger pigs (up to 12 weeks-of-age) and MHS in older pigs (12-20 weeks-of-age ).Due to the lack of current research on diagnostics assays for each of these organisms, there is limited information regarding their epidemiology in positive herds. This study sought to provide a direct Comparison of different detection assays for identifying MHR and MHS in order to better assess infection dynamics and immunity relative to these two Mycoplasmas in positive herds.
