Rapid population growth and the expansion of industry have led to increasing energy demands and environmental degradation. Decreasing oil reserves, causing oil prices to rise even though Indonesia is an oil and gas producer. Therefore, the solution is to utilize alternative energy sources - renewable and environmentally friendly ones. One source of renewable energy is biogas, and it has a great opportunity to develop as an expression of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In principle, the generation of Biogas is very simple, through mixing substrate (manure) and water in an anaerobic digester. Biogas will be formed and can be used as an energy source, for example to fuel a gas stove - and the byproduct is organic fertilizer. Furthermore, biogas can reduce emissions of methane (CH4). The aspects that are optimized in developing Biogas from cow dung, among others, is how to sustain livestock, land availability, human resources, waste management and other supporting facilities. So through optimizing biogas, household energy needs of users can be fulfilled optimally, thus reducing dependency on conventional energy materials. Looking at these opportunities, oil and gas companies, as enterprises responsible for the energy challenge, can discharge their community service by developing biogas; this is a very precise expression.
