COMMUNIST HERITAGE BUILDINGS SEEN UNDER ENERGY, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA.

摘要

The paper deals with complex retrofit analysis of blocks of flats built during the communist era in the Czech Republic. There are 1.2 million of these flats, altogether roughly 30% of flats inhabited in the Czech Republic. Nowadays about half of these flats have been retrofitted. Those that have undergone retrofits have had them done using standard technologies without long-term foresee and often under poor design and construction quality, implicating an unhealthy indoor environment. A similar situation exists in the other post-communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe. On the other hand, unified blocks of flats can be seen as an area of significant potential of energy demand reduction and greenhouse gas emissions abatement potential.
