The launch of Phase 3D will signal the beginning of its operational life, but it alsobrings to close over a decade of coordinated effort to design, build, and obtain alaunch for the most ambitious project in amateur radio history. When it finallyclears the launch pad, our thoughts will naturally shift to, "what's next?"Trying to "top" P3D is not a mission objective that most would care to take on. Infact, I would suggest that we have no immediate need to build a moresophisticated bird, rather, we should carefully consider how we could bestnurture and grow the worldwide AMSAT community. After all, that community willfund future projects, so it's in our best interest to ensure its vitality.
