$50sat, one of the first four Pocketqubes – the Next Small Thing In Satellites

The success of the Cubesat has driven the cost of educational space beyond themeans of many institutions and amateur radio operators. The co-developer of theCubesat, Prof. Bob Twiggs came up with the idea of taking the next leap downward andreduced the footprint of the Cubesat to a quarter of its size. This new form factor of 5cmcubed was dubbed the “Pocketqube”. On November 21, 2013 four Pocketqubes werelaunched from the Unisat-5 satellite. One of these was $50sat.
