Mechanism of body operation in Japanese classical martial arts: Motion analysis of quiet standing and walking

Body movement and floor reaction force of a Japanese martial artist were examined in quiet standing and Namba-style walking. In quiet standing, floor reaction force varied greater than ordinary subjects and its center drew more complicated trajectory. In walking, his trunk motion was maintained constant with little up-down shaking, and the vertical component of reaction force showed a characteristic uni-modal profile.
