Performance of Air Filters for Residential Applications (PPT)

1. Literature data support link between exposure to submicron particles and health issues 2. Low grade residential HVAC filters (MERV ≤ 10) do not provide sufficient protection against airborne particles 3. To decrease cardiovascular risk and other health hazards associated with exposure to air pollution, high efficiency residential filters such as MERV 13 – 16 should be used 4. High efficiency residential filters can significantly reduce concentration of combustion particles (PM1.0) 5. Cleaning efficiency for PM1.0 and for 0.3-0.5 μm particles follow the same trend .
