摘要

An important step in the reconstruction of extensive air showers detected by ground particle detectors is the evaluation of particle density on the basis of detector signals. This is done using the mean energy deposited by a shower particle in the detector. In the standard procedure the evaluation of the mean energy deposit per particle requires propagating the shower particles through the detectors by time consuming Monte Carlo simulations. However, the distribution functions of the energy deposit do not depend on the shower evolution; they depend only on the type, energy and angle of incidence of particles. This makes it possible to construct distribution functions independent of the shower properties and the main advantage of such a procedure is computing speed.
