Electro-mobility in agriculture A contribution towards a safe and sustainable energy supply

Wind power, sunlight and biomass are renewable energy sources that will power the agriculture of tomorrow. John Deere is working on concepts how this energy can be utilized also in mobile applications and how agriculture can contribute to a safe and sustainable energy supply as a whole. The highest levels of efficiency as well as the highest reduction of CO_2 emissions can be realized through a closed cycle of energy production and its consumption and the exclusive use of regenerative sources. Within the framework of the eE-Tour Allgau project John Deere has explored the different aspects of agricultural electro-mobility, as well as examined the possibilities of local energy usage and intelligent energy management. As a pilot study a prototype vehicle integrating a large battery (~50 kWh) was developed, demonstrating fundamental hybrid features including grid-plug-in functionality thus laying the groundwork for future rural electro-mobility with full electric agricultural vehicles.
