摘要

Converting solar energy efficiently into electricity remains one of the challenges faced by researchers worldwide. With an increased demand to produce green sources of energy, there has been a keen interest in finding solutions for improving efficiencies in solar cells, the device that convert energy from the sun into electricity. The solar cell industry is still dominated by silicon-based solar cells because of the high conversion efficiency and excellent charge transport properties. However, these types of solar cells are still costly, thus limiting them from being used dominantly as a source of energy. Alternative to silicon, organic photovoltaic solar cells have been of interest due to their favorable advantages such as mechanical flexibility and low cost.
