Microbiological and cytotoxic testing of poly (vinyl alcohol) gel with herbal medicines used for wound care

Cryogenically cross linked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) gels with herbal medicines (HM) are chosen for wound dressing preparation.In this research work the assessment of various PVA gels with HM, their micro-bial contamination risk as well as the level of colonization of the microorganisms and adhesion activity for the use of gel materials for the wound care were made. The biocompatibility and cytotoxicity of pure PVA gels and gels with paste of pine extract were also determined.
