The influence of hydrophobic ionic liquids on cross-link density, mechanical properties, hysteresis and relaxation rates of the methylvinylsilicone rubber vulcanizates were investigated. Imidazolium salts with bromide, chloride and hexafluorophosphate groups were applied, resulting in shortening of the rubber vulcanization time, as well as decrease of the torque increment during cross-linking. Their presence reduced crosslinks decomposing under the influence of ammonia vapour. The most significant changes of methylvinylsilicone rubber properties were observed in a case of ionic liquid with l-methyl-3-octylimidazolium cation and hexafluorophosphate anion.
