This work is concerned with the numerical solution of equations for the simulation of multi-component, two-phase, thermal flows in porous media and its application to model the in-situ combustion process. The basis of the sequential formulation for the numerical solver is briefly described followed by the 2nd order accurate numerical algorithm developed to solve it. Next, we present numerical results that illustrate the behaviour of in-situ combustion in one and two dimensions. We will then discuss examples of the sensitivity of the simulations to the grid resolution and reaction parameters as well as the influence of input parameters. Two-dimensional capabilities are then demonstrated by simulating a propagating combustion front in a heterogeneous formation.
