摘要

The ACUMEN project is a ?3 million partnership project investigating new approaches to managing methane from closed and historic landfills. The project is funded by the UK departments of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the EU LIFE+ programme, with the remaining funding coming from each of the project partners. The project partners are the Environment Agency, Norfolk County Council, Ground Gas Solutions Ltd, Biogas Technology Ltd in the UK and Politechnika Warszawska (Warsaw University of Technology) in Poland. This paper will describe the work at the ACUMEN project practical demonstrations at closed landfill sites in the UK. We believe that the learning from the project will be widely applicable to closed landfills in other countries.
