AN EXPLORATORY STUDY ON WASTE MANAGEMENT IN SOUTHEAST ASIAN MEGACITIES AND TOKYO

Fieldworks on waste management was conducted in Manila, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo, with a viewpoint on harmonisation or coordination between official and non-official approaches to municipal waste management and recycling. Major actors were interviewed and characteristic sites were visited at each location. This exploratory study generated several topics for further research.
