Leachate samples from different operation times (in April 2010, October 2010 and April 2011) and different landfill technologies (semi-aerobic and anaerobic landfills) were gathered for HA extraction respectively. Three-dimensional excitation emission matrix (3DEEM) fluorescence spectroscopy was employed to investigate the structure and characteristics of HA. In addition the interaction of humic acid (HA) from different aerobic conditions with Hg and its potential impacts on the species and fate of Hg were examined for different landfill stabilization processes.
